Chainsaw maintenance, cross-cutting ,felling and processing trees up to 380mm.

201, 202, 203  - This popular training course runs the candidate through all of the relevant theoretical and practical aspects that are required to pass NPTC Units CS30 and CS31 and allows successful candidates to fell trees commercially up to 380mm diameter.

 

The first day is workshop-based, covering legislation, risk assessments, basic chainsaw maintenance, chain ID, sharpening and organising site safety. Then you will be based in a woodland, where you will be shown a range of felling cuts and saw safety.

• Maintaining the sawchain.

• Maintaining the guide bar.

• Power unit maintenance.

• Starting the chainsaw + pre-cutting test.

• Cross-cutting timber + felled timber.

• Site specific risk assessment.

• Standard felling cuts + specialist cuts upto 380mm.

• How to deal with hung up trees.

• Processing felled timber – including correct de-limbing + cross-cutting to length.
